Not the same thing anatolian. GGG was the one who said anyone from 154-168, so why on earth wouldn't anyone have a problem with GGG asking for a 164 CW against the best at 168 who's a light hitter compared to Froch and Chavez Jr who he was willing to fight at 168? Canelo will be at 160 after this fight, rest assure, and GGG will be next.

Boxing as a whole is levels below what boxing was in 2000. Of course we're not going to get the same quality matchups. But as far as significance for Mexicans, I would say its about the same. I'm Mexican, and live in Los Angeles, the best boxing town in the U.S., possibly the world.

I take anything fighters say with a pinch of salt, so It is the same to me. If you're ready to fight Froch at 168, you should be ready to do the same for Ward. And if your isn't ready for 160, It sure as hell shouldn't be ready for 164½. This is no different than GGG fanboys celebrating his fight with Brook after calling all the names in the book to Canelo for fighting Khan.

GGG was among those people calling Canelo names for fighting Khan, and went around and did the same damn thing.. even after he said he wasn't going to fight Brook because he was "Too small"...GGG is a hypocrite too.

I'm not trying to vindicate GGG. He and his fans have been hypocrits in the past. I'm just calling his haters out on the same.

With all due respect, for me it's the same thing. Sure, GGG's 154-168 boast was found to be inaccurate w.r.t. Ward, but so was Canelo's "I'm not a middleweight, need time to acclimatize to 160 lb".

In both cases the reason was money, risk vs reward. I don't see any differences really, in fact Canelo's hypocrisy seems more blatant to me because most fighters/trainers talk up their chances and I've learned not to take any boasting seriously.

As you know, I expect Canelo-GGG to happen after this too, so no disagreement there.

Agree to disagree. Canelo never made those divisional challenges, and technically he's never fought at the 160 pound limit, and also GGG is being negotiated for September as we all know, and although I would have preferred BJS because of the WBO strap being up for grabs, I can't fault Canelofor doing the same thing GGG did against Brook, which was chase down the Benjamin's!!! Canelo has a tougher challenge with chavez imo due to the size disparity hell be up against in may compared to what GGG had to deal with against WW Brook.

So because you don't know his fight night weight you're claiming he weighs 185 pounds?

    A 5'7 athlete with 0 body fat=185 pounds?

So how much did Floyd weigh for Manny? Let me guess... 178 pounds?

I wasn't a fan of GGG-Brook either. I'm not even saying this is worse, because it isn't. I don't really mind the fight, it's a big fight and a fun fight. My opinion is that Canelo-Khan, GGG-Brook, Canelo-Chavez Jr are all just money fights with no real significance. Canelo-Chavez Jr is actually the best of the lot by a margin, followed by GGG-Brook and Canelo-Khan.

I'm just saying that Canelo being keen on Chavez Jr @ 164.5 lb but less keen on GGG @ 160 lb is a very similar situation to GGG being very keen on Froch/Chavez Jr @ 168 lb and less keen on Ward at the same weight. Canelo/ODLH's "not a middleweight" business was found to be just as erroneous as Golovkin/Sanchez's "154-168".

The main difference being that GBP/Canelo sent K2/GGG 2 offers for fights at 160. So regardless whether they said Canelo wasn't a true MW, the offer to fight at the full MW limit was made.

How do you feel about GGG asking Ward to come down to 164 for a title fight?

Despite the idiots who celebrated the Brook fight having had more of a case considering Brook started at 147 and is a known weight cutter as opposed to being the incredibly chinny former lightweight that Khan is I agree. Both were shite fights.

The hypocrisy so often shown on this site is ridiculous.

I'd also say that had the Chavez and Froch fights at 168 happened and he'd won them then I think the Ward fight would have also been made at the full weight limit had he not moved up to 175. Again, it's funny how Andre was given those acclimatising fights to prep for a talent like Kovalev but Golovkin? He has to make that jump straight away or be labelled a ducker.
