It being a flat fee makes the offer make a little more sense to me in terms of why they would offer him so much, compared to the other big names that were offered less than Golovkin, but probably had part of the ppv cut.

What Canelo is offering Golovkin now is one of the biggest purses that a non star, someone who has never had a successful ppv before, and obvious B side, has ever gotten in the sport.

So its pretty weird that GBP would go so far as to double what was already a really generous offer. So while I will definitely say that Golovkin obviously made the right move in turning it down, since the offer eventually was almost twice as much (which is crazy if you think about it), I cant say that the initial 8 million is a bad offer. And if G doesn't take this offer of 15.... it really does fly in the face of reason, just imo.

On a side note, set all agendas aside and lets just think economics for a second, just the business side. sit back and think for a second.... GBP is offering Golovkin 15 million for this fight. 15 million..... I'm sure theres a good recent example that I'm just not thinking of, but really, besides Mayweather Pac, when was the last time any B side was offered that much? And for a fight that surely isn't going to do too much over a million ppvs... IF that. I am not understanding the offer.... Canelo didn't make that much against Cotto. Cotto didn't make that much against Mayweather. Cotto didn't make that much against Pac I believe (we are talking guaranteed numbers) Those are the big leagues of the names in America, and the B sides aren't seeing the numbers that were offered to Golovkin. Business wise, this makes the offer they sent G make no sense to me. And K2 aren't stupid, they would have to be aware of the market, the slump boxing is in, what other fighters make in comparison, ect.... and they turn down 8 and 10 mill?

The ONLY way any of that makes any sense, is if GBP is offering huge money up front, with a completely unreasonable PPV split. Similar to what Mayweather initially tried to do to Pac (when people were saying Pac was stupid to turn down his highest payday of 40 million)

So idk.... will be interesting to see how it plays out. I obviously only speak for myself but if G doesn't take the 15 mill, (which I think they will), I lay the blame on him for the fight not happening. Even if the ppv split is ridiculous..... take your biggest possible payday, win the fight, and then get your money when you have the leverage.

At the time my prob with the 8m offer was the silly 155 catchweight demand which they inserted to make sure the offer wasn't accepted.

Now, it's been proven that the money end wasn't right either with GBP - who you'd hope have a much better grasp of the money available - doubling the cash offer. Any product whatever that be, is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and in this case that's 15m dollars which shows 8m wasn't a serious offer.

If people want to debate the merits of the 15m offer then sure, that's for us to discuss but what's currently on the table makes what was previously sent over look utterly rubbish.

Personally I think 15m is a lot and I'm surprised that they think that offereing that would work in their favour. This is making K2 think that's more in the pot. There might well not be but it seems the only logical reason not to offer a purse split.

only have to go back to Oscars last interview on Fox where he had to reassure the presenter that Canelo will fight GGG in sept,hardly sounds like that of someone who's just sent a contract does it?
For arguments sake how bad would it look on either guys next few opponents if they signed now,it's not the same as Ward v Kovalev as neither are taking tune up opponents,ok if they sign up for a potential non total fight but how would that command the same numbers?so you see it's a totally pointless talking point for anything else but a forum.
