I’m not sympathetic to your first 2 points due to the fact that Master Al had more than $400M and a significant number of TV dates to play with less than 2 years ago. These advantages coupled with his controlling, or rather “advising,” most of the top fighters at 147, should’ve resulted in a lot more compelling matchups. I can respect his commitment to paying fighters more than other promoters might have. However, with $400M behind him, he could’ve easily scheduled a murderers’ row type of round robin to develop a legitimate star and/or successor to Floyd. The best part is he would’ve still had a lot of money left over, since every fighter in his roster does not have the leverage to command top dollar. Instead of using investors’ money wisely to deliver a return on their investment, increase boxing’s profile and convert casual fans to diehard fans, he chose to conduct himself in questionable ways. Although quite powerful, he remained largely invisible like Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget. As a result he did bush league crap like this: http://www.*******.com/miguel-vazquez-inks-agreement-with-al-haymon--79362 This picture is shady on multiple levels and a review of Vazquez’s record shows why. 1. Where’s Master Al? 2. How could a Harvard trained lawyer and former big time music executive think it’s a good idea to have a title holder meet at McDonalds to enter into something as serious as a “advisory” contract? 3. Does Master Al have a stuttering problem or does he think Sam Watson is so good looking that he wants everyone to see him as the face of Pro Boxers Chillin’ (PBC)? This “signing” was all about screwing over a Mexican for a Brother. Here’s how? Vazquez signed this contract in June 2014. In September 2014, he found himself on the undercard of Floyd vs Maidana 2, where he was on losing end of controversial split decision to Mickey Bey.
Sometimes they're active and sometimes they aren't. * Gervonta Davis and David Benavidez had three fights each in 2017. * Jermell Charlo, Deontay Wilder, Mikey Garcia, Jarrett Hurd, Sergey Derevyenchenko, Robert Easter Jr., Julian Williams, had two fights this year. That's about standard at world level. * Spence, Thurman and Garcia were the three main fighters who only had one fight-and Thurman was injured.
When is PBC going broke? FFS his last two major cards Santa Cruz/Wilder were total flops at the box office and wouldn't be surprised if they flopped in the ratings.
Which is better than Mick Hennessey who ensures his fighters get paid as little as possible because he is weak in negotiations.
I read somewhere Al Haymon has no less than 900M to play with. Almost half of it already gone. Dont know what was his plan at the beginning, could've been just an easy scheme that he thought he can get away with, or he may just drop that PBC belt and get it on. I also suspect he's plotting something with Dana White.
He works off a far lower pay than the other promoters so at least they see a lot more of their purse. That said, I'm a fight fan and it's frustrating watching some top guys fight once a year
I actually have a really good answer for this and have discussed with other people i talk boxing with and they think im spot on. I wont post it here because im sure itll get me banned but i think im right.
I read on the internet that Haymon takes NOTHING unless your purse is over $100,000, then he takes %15.
Even with showtime behind them you know how many shows they ran last year? 14!!! They do not have the funds or the broadcaster dates to get there fighters out in the ring.
