I feel so sad because I have a feel the loser of this fight will not get a chance to fight AJ If Fury beats Wilder or vice versa it's the perfect excuse for Hearn to keep on tweeting Can the Loser of Wilder-Fury beat AJ?? Or should the loser just retire?
If the loser got the fight with AJ , then which one it is, either fury or wilder, either of them are capable. Styles make fights and each has his own style.
It's not even certain the winner of this fight could win against AJ. The winner will be an underdog vs. AJ. The loser will be a massive underdog.
The loser would need to earn a shot. Joshua has mandatory defences stacking up, that's the problem with having so many belts and only fighting twice per year, it limits the number of voluntaries you can have if it isn't a unification fight. The WBO and IBF mandatories are due next year and so without a belt to unify to trump these mandatories they won't get a shot in 2019. As for winning, depends on how they lose. If either of them get's brutally KO'ed it would be hard to pick the loser against Joshua.
They're both the biggest fights out there for AJ - especially if they're serious about his legacy. He's got to fight them both really at some point, regardless who wins at the weekend. I think he will too.
Of course...why couldn't they? I expect Fury to outbox Deontay, if he gets the decision (Fury), it doesn't change my opinion that Wilder would stop AJ.
Joshua isn't so much better than Wilder than I'd consider him a shoe-in to win. With Fury, we don't know what kind of condition he'll be in. If he were to lose this weekend and then bloat back up to whale status, then no I don't think he would or should get a Joshua fight.
Wilder will never beat AJ. AJ is too physically strong for Deonkey, he'll bully him and beat him up on the ropes. And no, it doesn't take one shot. That's nonsense. This won't be about who lands first. It'll be a game of composure, stamina and physical strength over the space of a few rounds. And Joshua has the lead on 2 of those 3, and arguably stamina is a 50-50. (Although I think Wilder-Fury will answer that stamina question). Wilder can't maintain any momentum in a brawl. He loses composure up close and that will be the downfall. As for Fury, time is running out. I think when we see Joshua reach his peak, the tables will turn on that matchup and Joshua will edge ahead. For now I can't split them, maybe I have Fury slightly ahead. Fury needs to fight Joshua as quick as possible.
