Both came bang on their best weight imo

Aj not too light and shouldn't suffer stamina issues, while still having the strength

Usyk having enough size to absorb shots and having a little power of his own, while retaining speed

They both look good and my hype for this has went up

 

He rehydrated around 215

More to the point. The only stat I remember was in the Michael Hunter fight which gave 209 iirc.

People keep saying that "Ruiz has a thick frame" and all of that nonsense. He may not have a slight frame like a Tour de France GC contender but he's sure as hell someone who could have made LHW if actually lean (sub 10% body fat, say).

 

Am I dreaming? This fight is actually happening? Two great fighters in their prime are fighting.

 

Because one side has all the starpower.

 

I think I heard someone in the crowd sneeze during the weigh in, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

 

Usyk said years ago in an interview that he would be 100 KG as a HW and that's what he is bang on. The 231 stuff was just smoke and mirrors, as was AJ indicating that he would be a career lightest. As it stands AJ's the 2nd lightest he's been since pre-Sprott but as a mature man at 32, slightly lighter than he was against Pulev and Parker and slightly heavier than Ruiz 2. He wants to be able to box and move well without giving away any psychological edge he has from his mass.

 

Nice weigh in for once - both fighters respectful of each other - no stupid fake 'beef'...etc, and just a simple handshake.

 

Joshua called him a mo fo but luckily Usyk didn't understand him,,otherwise we'd have another Canelo-Plant situation.

 

Would’ve liked to see Usyk come in around 215lbs. He’s going to have to exert a lot of energy to win this fight.
