    I just realized that Marco Huck defended his belt 13 fights in a row before he got dethroned recently too, if you don't count his pop up to heavyweight to challenge Povetkin.

    Back in 2010 Ivan Calderon had 18 defenses at two weights.

    Who else had long runs lately?

    Chris John had 18 defenses with three draws as late as 2013.

    Golovkin, Gonzalez, and Klitschko of course. Looks like Wladimir put about 18 together in a row before Fury.

    Omar Narvaez got twenty before Donaire beat him and then eight before Inoue. Donaire had about 14 in a row across 5 weight divisions before Rigondeaux.

    I think his fights with Chemito Moreno were his most impressive, tho I think he should of lost or at least drawn with Moreno. The 2nd one Yamanaka won in sensational fashion, but Moreno just didn't look like the same Moreno from the first fight. Not to take credit from Yamanaka, but Moreno's speed, timing, jab, and defense, those things that you usually in a Moreno fight, weren't there.

    Supposedly he was having big issues with the weight, though I'm not trying to cheapen the performance.

    I believe he said he'll be moving up, think he actually said that before the fight, whether he won or lost.

    I'm just saying, fighters at the lower weights burn out faster.

    Like I said, he looked a bit hittable in the Moreno rematch.

    Well yeah, look at Uchiyama. Yamanaka seems to be holding up fairly well though considering.

    I'd be very impressed with Yamanaka if he surpassed (or even tied) Canizales, and that's even if he did so with a string of middle of the pack ranked contenders. Fighting twice a year that would put his seventeenth defense in late 2019. He'd be 37.

    36 years strong, that record, and not one but two Japanese boxers in consecutive years fall just short @ twelve. Crazy. Wouldn't surprise me if Yamanaka followed Uchiyama into retirement (either immediately, or following a failed bid to reclaim his title in a rematch with Nery, like Uchiyama tried with Corrales)
