The fight happened a little too late sadly. But one of the questions I've always thought was, what if? If you took the years where Barrera and Marquez were at their best combos of skill and attributes who would win? My money is on Barrera. I think a primed Barrera would be the toughest matchup for Marquez of any notable featherweights in recent memory. Barrera's biggest weakness is he's vulnerable to the straight left. Marquez doesn't have a stiff enough jab to take complete advantage of that. And Barrera is just too well rounded for Marquez. He can punch hard enough to gain respect. He's equally adept with the left hand and the right. Marquez would not be able to zero in on the left hand like he was with Pacquiao. Barrera knows how to brawl if he needs to. But he would probably outbox Marquez knowing that Marquez is vulnerable to fighters who don't take the lead. He just knows how to do everything. I got Barrera all day in this one.
