tough match up for mayweather but he is still the more versatile fighter. He needs to get in Forrests chest and don't give Vernon room to work. Floyd's foot work would get it done over 12
Floyd would have problems with Vernons jab for the first two rounds, then Floyd would neutralize it by throwing fast combinations and lateral movement. Vernon would chase Floyd and he would never catch him. Floyd 9 rounds to 3.
Vernon was cool. Very good but not great. I think he loses the fight. He has the physical advantages and a better jab but was a very robotic type fighter who was very repetitive and limited offensively. Also he was not good defensively, though he wasnt shy about tying up his opponent. I think it would have been a matter of Floyd timing down his jab and countering over it while Forrest follows him around the ring.
Pull counter Floyd would time that jab and force Forrest to shy away from it Floyd timing is impeccable....he would no doubt counter Forrests jabs after maybe round 2 or three and Forrest will start to hesitate with it or shy away from it allowing Floyd to take control with pot shots and whatever else he wanted to use. When I hear the words "Ass Kicking" I picture a clear and defentive win. I don't see that hear. Forest has the style and ring IQ o win hear. Mayweather has the skills and ring IQ to offset Forest. If I pick Forest to win it is in a large part due to his secuess against Mosley. However Mayweather is not Mosley. I see Forest giving Mayweather problems with his jab, but I see no reason that Mayweather couldn't figure Forest out. I also think Mayweather could lure Forest out of his jab and get him to atempt to make it a fight where Mayweather can pick him apart. My pick is Mayweather wins 7 or 8 out of 12 rounds.
