1-3 years fron now, who will be

There won't be any FACE of global boxing. In fact there aren't any right now either (Canelo is US/Mexico only, AJFury are UK guys, Inoue is Japan centered, etc)

 

I’m glad you’ve had that experience talking about Usyk, seriously. I haven’t, but it’s awesome to hear that. You say the kids at school, what level of school are you talking about?

As far as US born fighters go, I think Tank is closer to being the face of the sport than Crawford, and that’s a shame…. Really…

 

Secondary school. Everyone I teach, whenever I talk about boxing, they talk about Usyk. Or Jake Paul lol.

Tank is gonna suffer soon, you can already see the decline. He isn't taking the Saudi money and he isn't making the big fights. He's seriously stagnated.

 

With due respect, I'm not too surprised that kids who talk about boxing would know Usyk because that means they care enough about boxing to actually talk about it. Its more of those who have no interest in that said sport still know the name of

My mom who doesn't know the rules of boxing other than "you punch the other person with round gloves" knows Ali and Tyson are "famous boxers from a long time ago" (no she doesn't really know the generation difference between Ali and Tyson).
My sister who grew up in the US and never watched a second of boxing knows Mayweather and Pacquiao as "famous boxers when she was still in grade school".
My aunt who's Japanese and never left the country and gets sports knowledge from the local TV knows Inoue as "a really good Japanese boxer" but doesn't know exactly what Inoue has accomplished to be lauded.

None of them care enough about boxing to follow it (other than seeing Inoue's name in the news every so often) and doesn't know who Canelo nor Usyk nor Crawford and definitely not Tank, nor exactly why Inoue is famous for outside being a "good Japanese boxer".

 

Extremely far fetched, but let’s say Tank just decided to start fighting real competition, he could easily become the face of boxing.

 

The real reason is the lack of history and tradition.

 

Like I said, in my experience most people know who Usyk is.

There isn't even currently a global/universal face of boxing....................and there definitely won't be one in 1-3 years because no one in the pipeline is even as lauded/known as Canelo, Tank, (formerly) Joshua or Inoue (in Asia).

 

All I know is Canelo AJ Fury Crawford and maybe even Tank will be done from boxing in 3 years ..

 

Surprisingly Australia has a player in the NHL, Nathan Walker. Great Britain hasn't had one since before ww2.
