A lawyer friend of mine noted that free speech laws on internet sites like facebook should probably follow the laws for shopping malls laid out in the 70s and earlier 80s, since they became the new de facto town squares. And since places like youtube and facebook are monopolies which do not function like normal businesses, the laws governing them should be more like the laws governing public spaces.

The problem as I see it, even though I do not like Alex Jones, the man has rights. I don't approve of censorship for anybody. The people who are fringe and make the craziest statements need the most support. That's what the first Amendment is about, protecting unpopular speech. Popular speech doesn't need protecting. This is about real freedom, freedom of thought, freedom of expression. And not a week goes by that I don't see liberals censoring conservatives, trying to silence all opposition to their inane ideas. They want to eradicate all conservative speech in America until only liberal voices can be heard. That's where this is heading, because censorship is a tyrant's tool, a cudgel wielded by a clod who cannot best a foolish word with a better one.
