It's easier to make that weight for that kind of division, but to lose that amount of weight in the lower divisions is like getting your ass bleed from frequent toilet visits.
Juanma was 151# at this point for their first fight, still this isn't a good sign. He was 145# early in December.
They are on track in Puerto Rico they have a rule to have a mandatory weight ins just to track the health of the fighters, the maximum weight allowed was 144.9, is nothing compared to 143 but for the commission and the doctors is healthy to be at that weight and lose the rest in a month. About 144 they tend to track more the fighter for their health.
Isn't this even more worrying then? He could be cutting weight just to get under this limit and he might be walking around even heavier.
Careful eating and hard training and you can lose around 2 lbs a week and dehydrate 10lbs before the weight in and still remain stron. no biggy
But...he doesn't have to lose actual muscle or anything. He's going to lose a little fat, then cut water weight like virtually all the guys do, the rest of the way, and he'll go back up quite a bit by fight night. Donaire was in the 140's later than this for Narvaez, he even said, for a comparison with another small man.
i dont see juanma winning this. salido will have the psychological edge from the off. he's gonna want to get lopez out of there early. i think he stops lopez in a much less premature fashion this time.
way tougher for little guys.... thats why their weigh divisions are only separated by 4 pounds....because each pound on their small frames is a big deal....
Its not that much weight for a pro boxer to lose. He'll prob lose 10lbs in the last week from dehydration and put it back on after the weigh in. The rest he'll just lose from a solid 3-4 weeks of hard training.
