With only 1 confirmed fight between relative no names Issac Lowe vs Christian Palma on the undercard, and plenty of seats still available, is Wilder vs Fury in danger of being postponed? Maybe they could just stream the fight one off on youtube?
Hurd v Welborn as well. i remember when they were talking about LSC/Russell Jr & Davis/Mares for this card, now we get this load of rubbish
Apparently you can collect stickers from McDonald's drink cups? 6 stickers for a ringside ticket or 10 to appear on the undercard.
Hurd vs Wellborn still isn't confirmed yet either. So many names have been thrown around for this card, makes me wonder if they are crying wolf. 30 days out with no undercard is very unusual and extremely poor organization/promotion. They need another big fight on the card at the very least, and fast.
So what gives? Are they offering peanuts? I realise there's the Frampton card upcoming but if I were a Frank Warren fighter I'd be champing at the bit to fight in LA in a big arena and maybe announce myself to the US market. At this rate they'll have to get Billy Joe in there wearing a v fr vendetta Guy Fawkes mask.
I'm betting they've contracted most of the profits to Wilder and Fury, and with ticket sales and PPVs not going as well as planned, Matchroom/DAZN reaching out to potential opponents making better offers to make sure fights don't get made on the card, they can't afford any decent fights or incentives for guys to take risks. Which makes me wonder, if they are going into debt trying to make it.. postpone the fight? It's not like a conveniently timed injury hasnt happened before.
It should have been fought in the UK. Fury done better numbers here against Seffer Safairy than Jacobs did in his world title fight against SD.
Twas the night before the 1st, And throughout the card, Not a boxer was present, Not even Yarde, Tho they'd scoured the world, From Lima to Naples, They'd not found any fighters, To appear at the Staples, So in desperation, Finkel donned a boxing glove, And in need of an opponent, Gave Frank Warren a shove, So it came to pass, Before Wilder v Fury, That Finkel v Warren, Was the night's leading story,
Warren v Finkel. May be an option for the undercard. Although Frank is a total G , Finkel may have some sneaky moves of his own.
