    Streching
I'm going to start muay thai tomorrow hopefully, and would like to get more flexible, but have no idea what streches to do. I can get hold of a foam roller, I have heard they are good.

    1. should I do dynamic or static streching?

    2. what streches should I do?

    Sleep
I'm 17 years old. I'm going to start to train 5-6 times a week.
How much sleep is optimal? I've heard some say it's bad to get more than 8 hours:? but also heard some say 9 hours is optimal for a teenager.

    Thanks in advance:thumbsup

dynamic stretching is what you should do as part of your warm up, static stretching is what you should do to increase your flexibility.
You shouldn't do static flexibility prior to your training as it can be detrimental to your performance and will not help prevent injuries

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Kicking is dynamic, so stretching in the classic sense (i.e. static stretches) isn't important at first. I used to know guys that could do vertical front kicks yet they couldn't get very deep into front splits.

Do dynamic leg raises to the front, side and rear once a day or at least 3 times a week, 3x10 each leg for each exercise. It isn't much but it'll loosen up the muscles for kicking. You'll learn how to stretch at the lessons.

So static streching in the morning and after workouts, and dynamic streching as a warmup?

you wanna stretch dynamic before performing, recruits alot more of the muscular fibres than static and stores elastic energy within the muscles which can help to increase contraction strength. BUT if you wanna increase general flexibility static stretches are good at any other time

Do you do MMA regularly? Weird question but have you found the conditioning helps with the boxing in any way? I've never had any interest in MMA at all, not even as a spectator but I was interested in how the MMA conditioning may help.
