1 thing that's being overlooked... 150lbs is a GREAT weight for Margarito!!

That sounds fishy. I don't believe Marg can make 147 anymore. His last fight was at 154. They have Margarito cornered. He'd probably remove his lungs for them if he was asked. Team Pac has all the negotiating power and it's because Marg is desperate. The real issue is if Team Pac doesn't see cutting a few pounds as being effective they would never request a catchweight fight. That's what everyone needs to focus on. Why would they want their critics to have something to talk about anyway? Wouldn't you want to beat your opponent at his very best in his natural weight class?

As for winning an 8th title...it's all smoke and mirrors if you ask me. He's not fooling the real boxing fans. First it's about making excess money and now it's about diamond belts too? Sounds like they are adopting Vince McMahon's tradition.

 

So people ake excuses for DLH saying he has fought at WW in 10 years, yet Margo who has fought at WW for the last 10 years is weight drained at 150lbs. :rofl

Would Margo be better at 154lbs than 150lbs? Yes. Would Margo be better at 150lbs than 147lbs. Yes. Did a 147lbs Margo beat Cotto and Cintron. Yes. Pac would be beating a Margarito who is bigger and most probably better than any Margo at WW.

I'm certain that Margarito would have taken this fight had team Pacquiao insisted it on being at 147 lbs.

Pacquiao got greedy however. He wants that bogus title at 154 lbs and so the fight is at 150 lbs.

......considering that Margarito would have taken the fight at 147 lbs, this is an advantage for Margarito no doubt.

No question, Pacquiao may regret the day that greed got the better of him.

 

I Loved Margarito back then, I think he peaked in the Antonio Diaz fight, he still had a quickness to him back then, was a real Tornado.

 

Great post TS. margo for the most part is not a one punch fighter like Tito or Hearns. he accumultes damage and wears down his opponents.

i don't think paq can sustain that sort of punishment and pace like the fifth round of the santos/marg fight.

in paq's last four fights, the only one that showed up was a shop-worn cotto.

marg is showing up to win come fight night.

Pacquiao with his stature now could have forced margarito to come back down at 147 where he will be weight-drained ala Margo-Mosley. instead they gave margarito a very big advantage by letting hime fight at 151 lbs where i think margo will be at his best weight and manny would be bloated and ineffective, all for the chance of getting another belt

No one is really worried about margarito being weight drained, the fight is just bull**** because pac is winning a jmw title at another catchweight, when he is good enough to win it at the actual limit. Not to mention it's for a vacant title which makes even more of a farce.

You do realize 150 is closer to Welter than it is JMW?
