And he showed the world that he was way better than Baldomir. Its not like he squeezed by Baldo, he blew Baldo away

floyd had to redeem himself after such a loss, thats why he fought him the second the time and got on his bike. The thing is floyd realized after that fight that he needs to cherry pick his opponents to keep that 0 (which should really be a 1) from going away.

And what ever became of Baldo? Baldo hasn't fought all year. Why should that mean so much at this point? Who the **** is Baldo in 2008? Inactive.

It's not like Floyd ever did anything with that WW championship. More or less "hit it and quit it". He took DLH's money and ran into retirement waiting for the next perfect opportunity.

Should mean just as much as Leonard's win over Lalonde and it will if he never goes back to the division. Not like he knocked down contender after contender.. That's what I favor.

It's easier to praise his career as a whole rather what he has done lately in the WW division. Don't fool yourself.

No doubt PBF was the #1 welter after beating Baldo, but the fact that it took 3 fights means nothing.

*Calzaghe became the #1 light heavy after ONE fight at the weight.
*Pacquiao became the #1 feather after ONE fight at the weight.

Circumstances are key in someone getting big fights, such as promoter, cash, etc. Many people forget that it took a long time for Hopkins, and earlier, Hagler to become the #1 middle. Does that diminish their accomplishments? No.

    Allow me to elaborate..

Where the **** is Floyd in 08? In phony retirement land watching the best WWs fight for their legacy. Floyd hasn't been fighting for a legacy in years.. He's been cherry picking like mentioned above.

There's no doubt he was the WW Champ when retired. But I don't automatically call the World Champ #1 just because of a ****in belt. I am sure many of you guys realize politics, or a lack of recognition, can keep guys on the back burner while more famous names claim to be the best. Winky Wright @ 154 is a classic example.

The truth is, Maweather beat Sharmba Mitchell, a career 140 contender/titlist, who was KTFO of 140 and at his eldest, tried to move up in weight.

Then beating Judah was apparently no big deal as well. ****, most top guys who have faced Judah have beat him. He was lucky to have been facing a very light hitting Corey Spinks. And then LOSINg to a journeyman was unexcusable. Oh well, Mayweather took on a guys LOSING. That shold NOT be an option when you consider yourself the best. ****in fight WINNERS.

And ther Baldomir fight. What was Mayweathers RUSH to face and take the belt from such a weak champ? Did Mayweather win impressively? NOPE. It was a pretty lame fight, as many predicted it would be, yours truly included.

So, aside from wining the World Title (A feat that is getting less and less impressive considering politics and # of belts these days), Mayweather's WW reign is merely average to say the least. And his wins @ 147 are pretty pedestrian as well.

MAywather got his belt and ran from the division to preserve this appearance of greatness @ 147. He'll never face a top fighter again, even if he returns.

    Mayweather vs. Pacquiao coming up!
