10-10 and 10-8 scoring's should be used more liberally.

10-10 rounds aren't used enough IMO. I scored quite a few rounds this weekend 10-10

I agree with even rounds. There are some fights that are really close and I will score 2-3 even rounds when they are so evenly matched.

10-8 should be scored in clearly dominant rounds were the fighter gets visably hurt but they have to be very one sided. For example I still scored the 2 rounds Johnson had Dawson hurt 10-9 because Dawson was still landing.

Up 2 u, i disagree though personally. I dont give even rounds, i read a book that said, the only judges who give even rounds are the ones who aren't good enough at what they do to judge who did better in that round (or something like that). Ive never give an even round since. Think about it, with all the aspects there are of boxing, someone must edge the other in a 3-minute round, no?

I also wont give a 10-8 round without a KD, this is down to the disgression of the judge, so there is no right or wrong answer here i believe. But the way i see it, if a guy takes a pasting but shows the, chin, heart and courage to stay upright, he deserves his 9 points. Also, since when has the MAIN part of boxing (hitting without being hit), been to knock your opponent down and brute force? I know it plays a major part, but its not the only way to earn points.

    Just my opinion this.

Is the elusive guy making the other miss? If so, wouldnt that be like when Willie Pep won the round without throwing a punch?

Also, i dont know how you're SUPPOSED to do it, but if a guy clearly wins a round but gets a flash KD, logic says 9-9 , imo anyway! Cos it would be 10-9 without the KD, then 1 point gets taken off the guy who went down. Thats how i would have thought it!

EDIT: Thats a reply to your question JC Lightweight

Very good post! I agree in 10-10 being used more liberally! I do it on alot of my score cards but 10-8 I rarely give out.

yes he is making him miss..

well it seems everyone has a different opinion on the matter as you would check other peoples post.

And one guy i knew would give credit to the guy being aggressive even if he's not hitting or mostly looking foolish, rather than the elusive guy who doesn't throw anything even if he looks good evading those punches. His reason was that, its boxing and the guy coming to fight gets more credit.

    and isn't a KD usually a 10-8?

I personally wouldnt ever give a guy a round on ineffective aggression though.

I think you're right that the rules are that the round should be ruled 10-8, but imo, if a guy has dominated a round apart from goin down on a flash KD, it just seems logical to give it 9-9. As the guy who went down would have took it 10-9 before he goes down and gets 1 point taken away for it.
