Martin never was top 5 or top 10, Ruiz Jr was in the top 25 in the first fight

Martin was champ after Wlad left, and he had beaten someone ranked as high as 7. He was definitely top 10. I said when he beat them, Ruiz was absolutely top three going into the rematch.

Not that he rates, but I want to make sure Phil Scott gets a mention here because ...

    1) He crumbled at the feet of several top fighters, earning him the unofficial nickname ...

    2) Fainting Phil Scott, which was incredibly creative thought by some scribe of the day, plus ...

    3) He beat a guy known as Kid Moose, who I now want to know everything about

The only fight that Martin won before joshua's was against glazkov for injury, and in turn glazkov was not top 10 and several of the fights he won were doubtful.
Agree that Ruiz jr was top 3 in the rematch

I'm not saying Martin was elite. I'm not saying the win over Glazkov was legit. But Glazkov was rated #7 by Ring, and Martin beat him and was champion. He was definitely a top Heavyweight at the time. It was just a tragic time.

I remember that I did not have any of the 2 in my top 10 at the time and it seemed like a robbery the fight for the title ... there were many better fighters at the time

Let's start by looking at categories:

    Dominant champions

    Only Lennox Lewis need apply.

    Lineal champions

Fitzsimmons, Fury, and Joshua is so close to this category, that it makes less sense putting him in another.

    Outstanding contenders

Mitchell, Farr, Cockell, Bugner, Bruno, Haye.

Need to decide the parameters...Hide was born in Nigeria, Bugner in Hungary but both boxed in Britain but Fitz, Bentt were born there but boxed elsewhere. Lewis...I dunno. But what I do know is that a top 10 on resume without Farr is without value.

Hide was too fragile at heavy and AJ would have toyed with Akinwande.

Lewis was born and raised in the UK until he was 12 then he moved to Canada.
