Death of a King Was shocked to hear of the recent death of former mega-star wrestler and World Champion (they were all world champions in those days - much like boxing these days), King Curtis. This content is protected For those too young to remember, King Curtis was a larger than life character back in the Channel 9 World Championship Wrestling days. He first arrived in Oz in the mid 60's as a 'bad guy', and like many others, later 'turned good'. Curtis, full name King Curtis Iaukea, was born in Hawaii in 1938 and passed away just recently, on the 4th of December. (hey, it's a slow news night guys!)

I vaguely remember Abdullah. Apparently he was a butcher in real life. Had a shop in Fawkner The midgets were hilarious Wrestling, World of Sport then Epic Theatre. Great viewing :good
Great memories indeed Bollox. Used to love the footage they'd show from the previous Festival Hall card. I actually went once to a Festival Hall wresting night - if I remember correctly, top of the bill was a 'world championship' bout between Ron Miller and a yank called Jack Briscoe. Went for half an hour plus and finished in a draw - fancy that!
About the only things I remember about that **** was the furor from professional actors when the wrestlers tried to join Actors Equity (Union),,, and,,, when,, I think it was Roy Heffernen producing a cucumber in the ring when he was about to "fight" Pat Paterson or one of the other poofs doing the circuit. TV producers switched that show off there & then
Bought a 'Best Of World Championship Wrestling' DVD about 12 months ago Rodin - must get it out again - priceless stuff!
