1. Sam Soliman 37 (15) - 11 v Shannon McMahon 16 (6) - 5 for the vacant WBF MW title...... Is this Sams last fight? Shannon coming off a loss or two looks to be in for a hard night...a busy Sam to win 2. Shane Cameron 23 (20) - 2 v John Hopoate 12 (11) - 4 Looks like Hoppa has bitten off more that he can chew....even though Shane maybe a bit gun shy after Tua....could be huge first 4 rounds 3. Frank LoPorto 12 (5) - 4 v Tui Leveni 10 (6) - 2.....WBF LMW title This fight on the Cameron under card looks as if it could be fight of the night. Should be a close fight...go Frank 4. Kariz Kariuki 21 (18) - 8 v Jami Pitman 19 (8) - 1 WBO SMW regional title This should be a great fight....I will go with the discipline of Pitman to win this off a stiff jab...looking forward to this one 5. Michael Boiling 10 (9) - 0 v Victor Oganov 30 (28) - 3...aussie SMW title Another great fight of the big punchers...Boiling in a huge step up....to far for me...I will go Victor even after his average form in the contender 6. Danny Green 28 (25) -3 v Manny Siaca 22 (19)- 6...IBO CW title I think this will be a great fight...Green to win but it wont be easy..Siaca will be hard to tag clean 7. Jason Kanofuki 13 (2) - 2 v James Glitrow 10 (70 - 1...aussie WW title Im going with Jason to avoid the power of James and win on points...hes just faced better fighters 8. Les Sherrington 25 (16) - 5 v Rubin Williams 29 (16) - 8..PABA SMW Im going with Les here....Rubin has been in with the best but a bit off of late 9. Bob Mirovic 29 (20) - 21 v Alex Leapai 17 (13) - 3...Interim WBO regional title I will go with Alex here but he needs to be 100% ready for a tough big Bob 10. Anthony Mundine 38 (23) - 3 v We will know before this thread hits the second page.....said to be a step up in the right direction Some great fights coming up in the next 6 weeks on the local scene.......anybody pick different winners to what I have here? Also add any other great fights that I have missed for March April :good
Some great fights coming up. Good to see promoters giving us some interesting local match ups rather than bringing in an imported punching baag.
True. Got some time for Shannon McMahon. Have been to fightnights specifically to watch him in the past. But can't understand how he got the shot for this title, and IMO Sam will win in a canter.
Be fair to promoters. They are doing their best to bring you good quality match-up's for what the show's budget can afford. Being a promoter isn't the road to riches or access to an endless growing money tree out the backyard to put these shows on. On the flipside, it is great to see the momentum that appears to be building with Aussie boxing at the moment. Let's all stick behind it and support it!
Yeah mate...while talking about shows and good matchups..... 2 cards stand out over the next 6 weeks or so IMO 1. Barry Michael and Brian Amatruda for the Shane Cameron card...all 6 fights are good and should be close hard fights..apart from maybe Erins fight....good to see the girls on a big card as well. 2. Grange Old School with the Karixz v Pitman fight...with Ganoy TBA and what a great fight Vea V McCraken will be...I thought the last fight was good until the stoppage
8/4/10 Oganov V Bolling I'm going for an upset here. Oganov certainly has the experience but looked very ordinary in his last couple. Bolling has age , height and reach advantage. Bolling by UD. Nobody's holding their breath waiting for Mandy to step it up.
Speak for yourself :yep Anyway I did like the fight between these 2 guys...and I agree Victor has looked average in his passed few...still think he will get the win...looking forward to this fight :good
I was a little disappointed the way Super Boxer fizzled out last year but these are the sort of matchups you wanna see on the local scene. Pittman-Kariz is great matchmaking with all the noise Jamie has been making about being snubbed for the contender. Now he gets a crack at the runner-up (and the guy who had a decent shot at winning if they'd fought over 10-12 instead of the ridiculous seven rounder). Bolling has a good step up with Oganov and it'll really test where he's at right now. Cameron-Hopoate should be fun as long as Cameron fights smart. LaPorto-Leveni will be an absolute war, although I'm not sure this is still on with Leveni having fought last Friday in what was apparently a tough fight that he won. So much more on without the Mundine circus, and with the fights on Thursdays now as well it could get a bit mroe attention if the fights are matched like this.
I hope LoPorto v Leveni goes ahead...its an interesting domestic division at LMW....dont see Medley fighting any of the local guys so I hope the the winner of this fight gets to fight the winner of the aussie title fight between Tongia and Gosden...however I'm sure Frank would like another shot at King as would Tui like another shot at Waters.
Tend to agree...dont know much about Kiyota other than boxrec....considering Kiyota is so high on the world rankings.....it will be nice for Les if he gets the win...that regional belt does wonders for the points system I watched Les fight Fitzpatrick at broadbeach late last year...he showed some guts in a good win.
I have seen a few of Kiyota's fights. Not a bad fighter but imo a little one dimensional. Piper is aware of what he needs to do to win and has trained accordingly. Would be great to come back with the belt.
