Barrera was a boxing master and had more facets to his overall style than Chavez, IMO,..as for Morales...I now believe, after reflecting, that Morales can take Pintor's place...and before your post questioning me on that, I was reconsidering on Morales.

Barrera is my favorite fighter of all time, so I'm not angry you have him there, just bemused. I don't think I've ever seen him ranked above Chavez.

In terms of abilities and overall skill set, I'm not sure Barrera was the more impressive and well rounded. Chavez had an infinitely better and more consistent use of his right hand, and obviously sported better punch resistance even though Marco didn't really have any problems in this area himself. Perhaps Barrera was more adept at boxing from the outside behind his jab, but I still struggle to rate him above the great Chavez.

You could be right...I have been enamored of MAB for some time now, and it may be possible that I've overranked him just a tad...only relative to Chavez..but that's how it stands as of now. I believe beyond a doubt in S. Sanchez at #1 however....and I believe he would have proven to be even greater had he lived...we never saw his potential prime.

Marco Antonio Barrera was supremely skilled, and I could see why you'd be captivated by his primes performances. :good

His hallmark victory over Hamed is as satisfying and artistic a performnace as has ever been in my humble opinion Addie.

:good It's a lesson to all fighters. Even if you think you have the fight won, close the ****ing show. Barrera dominated the last two rounds.

I love Barrera for that fight alone..all else he's done is extra credit.

I also think that MAB would have been a standout performer in the old 15 round days. I think he would have navigated rounds 13 thru 15 like it was nothing.

I think most of today's outstanding operators would have adapted during those times, but absolutely, there was no stamina issues from Barrera during his primes years. He actually grew stronger during the championship rounds as evidenced by his showings against Kennedy Mckinney, Erik Morales, and the aforementioned Naseem Hamed fight. I could talk about Marco all day.

Manuel Ortiz was from the US. But if he was from Mexico id put him much higher than that.

    My list
    1.Julio Cesar Chavez
    2.Salvador Sanchez
    3.Ruben Olivares
    4.Ricardo Lopez
    5.Marco A Barrera
    6.Erik Morales
    7.Juan M Marquez
    8.Carlos Zarate
    9.Vicente Saldivar
    10.Miguel Canto
If i include Ortiz id put him in the 3 to 6 range.

Ranking Saldivar so low is to do him an injustice. He consistently fought a higher class of fighter than anyone on that list, and, incredibly, managed to reign dominant over that class. One of the greatest champions of all time.

    10. This spot is very tough to pick a fighter, you have guys like Kid Azteca, Casanova, and even Juan Manuel Marquez ect ect...fighting for the number diez spot. So i'll just leave it like this.

    Anarci, you're a man-child. I've tried to like you...but let's face it, you're a ****.
