So by the time Haye fights Vitali he will have been inactive for 10 months or so. How does this sit with Haye fans out there? Personally I like what Haye brings to the equation; an exciting antagonist and potentially the perfect foil for one of the Klitschko brothers to silence critics (assuming he doesn't pull off the upset). However I am personally disappointed that he will have been out of the ring for so long by the time he fights one of the 2 top heavyweights in the world, unless he pulls off the upset (which if he does I'll give him full credit) his loss will be blamed and potentially quite legitimately on his long lay-off, some will argue the end result would have been no different but all I know is i'd love to see Haye at his best regardless of whether he loses as it could make the difference between a 1st round embarrassment or a valiant hard fought defeat where he earns respect by giving a good account of himself. Even as a Klitschko fan I would hate to see Haye lose and then retire, he has alot to offer the division.
I think Hayes making a huge mistake. Its been way too long and he doesnt have enough experience to capitalise on all the claims he's been making,,especially not against the better (IMO) Klitschko... Im British and want nothing more than Haye to do the business,,but after 10 months he needs to take a top ten contender and not just jump the queue because of his marketability.
It's pretty frustrating but circumstances have played there part as well. He has a stable of fighters and a promotional company as well to look after so it wouldn't suprise me if that has had a lot to do his inactivity.
It doesn't make much of a difference. Vitali didn't fight for like 4 years and he came back and beat Sam Peter convincedly.
Haye's made the worst mistake of his career if all goes according to plan. That's just how I see it. 10 months off or not, he's not ready for the tougher of the two Klitschko bros...
I dont see the 10 months inactivity being a major problem for Haye as he is a natural athlete/fighter, the main problems gonna be that big lump knocking the crap out of him for about 4/5 rounds untill its all over
I really think Haye should have taken another fight first. He's been inactive for along time now, and timing is everything for a guy like Haye. Against a big man like Vitali, if he won't have time to shake of any ring rust or do any "feeling out". Haye is also recovering form an injury. I want to make sure he is 100% so we don't get any excuses in case he doesn't win. But I'm still cheering for the Hayemaker!
Good post :good As a Haye fan it is a major worry as to how rusty he might be going into the hardest fight of his life. Haye himself says ring rust is just an excuse when someone boxes badly so no excuses. We shall see, i still believe he has the ability to do it :bbb
Haye is a fraud, he has beat 2 top 30 HW and suddenly he can challenge the best, based on what? Its money...but ring rust will make him another bock...
It's something I've voiced concern about before, and even including the Barrett fight that just 1 fight in the last 16 months, even worse. Not fighting Wlad next may be the best thing for him. He needs someone, anyone, to fight to shake that rust off first. And then a top contender. If he just rushes into a fight with Vitali next or gets gifted one against Wlad that's a reciepe for disaster, despite Haye's talents. Inactivity can be a real killer. Throws off your timing, throws off your reflexes, eases off your stamina. Haye needs to fight again as soon as possible.
