Stupid thread. Once you watch Holyfield fight against the best of them, you realize you are building arguments with nothing to support them. Evander fought everybody and even tho he lost some, he gave hell of fights to the best in Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, Mercer and Moorer. Great commitment to fight even if disadvantaged physically in the era where 6'4'', 6'5'' 240 pounders HWs was starting to become the rule rather than the exception.

Holyfield's standing has really taken a beating in recent years which must really annoy Zakman.

But having said that, I actually think he is now under rated and this is coming from a huge Lewis fan. While he was never as good as some saw himto be immediately after he beat Tyson, he is still a guaranteed top 10 ATG heavyweight.

Sure he was never as dominant as recent champions like Lewis and the Klits but look at who he fought. Holyfield always fought the best and rarely took an easy fight. He arguably has the best resume since Ali, only Lewis can come close in terms of the quality of opposition beaten. He fought in the era of super heavies and beat Bowe, Tyson, Foreman, Moorer, Rahman and Mercer.

In many other era's his biggest weakness, size, would not be a disadvantage. He was the one old era sized heavyweight who proved he could beat the big men when he beat Bowe. How can a man who was the first fighter to win the world title 3 times since Ali not be in your top 10?

Indeedy, so much so that the Tyson camp demanded Holyfield be tested for steroids for the fight. Holyfields camp agreed but added a stipulation that the results wouldn't be available until after the match....just for a neat little psychological twist I guess.
Needless to say Holyfield passed the testing.

I think Evander pisses some people off with his history of outlandish excuses in defeat and blatant religious hypocrisy.

But to judge him as a boxer he is 10 top HW and he is above many of the names above himself if judged on overall boxing career

I think he is pretty fairly ranked on the whole. All boxers have their fan boys who will go OTT ranking their favourite guy.

Above Tyson but below Lewis IMO

:patsch You dont have to like Holyfield but to say this bull**** about him is just amazing...I mean seriously, how can you doubt a fighter like Holyfield??? The man has earned his due and I highly doubt he's overrated...If anything, he's UNDERRATED.

You say he robbed Lewis of a win but when does a fighter score a fight dumbass??:rofl

The Bowe Trilogy was a classic...no shame in losing to Bowe giving that he fought his heart out in all three of those fights.

Its clear as day you're a sorry ass troll!

absolute joke of a thread. At 36 years old he had defeated every man he ever faced. do u realize that only after the lewis fights did that change and second lewis fight would have gone his way if not for first fight being a bull crap draw. think about that now and undersized heavyweight that fought in the best heavyweight era we will ever see had defeated everyone he had ever faced until he was 37 years old. 2 loses to bowe 1 to moore and 1 win apiece to them. so yes very stupid thread you cant say hes not top 10 all time unless you take into his 38 and older resume which is still unbeleivable he only got stopped once in a 10 year span from then on and got robbed by valuev.

The night bowe beat holyfield in the first fight he was probably a top 5 heavyweight of all time. Lost to lewis the first fight but whupped his ass the second fight. Also, he clearly beat valuev for the belt.

Holyfield is only guilty of hanging around too long. Like Roy Jones Jnr and many others.

    ^ I agree with 75% of these. (6, 9 & 10 are silly)

    11: extremely questionable power.
