Two Dominican Junior Welterweights of the 70s and 80s, one a hard punching hard job who went 12 rounds with Aaron Pryor and was arguably robbed against Antonio Cervantes in their fight fight (Montilla) and the other, a cutie who could outbox almost anyone and was also a hard job who went 13 rounds with Roberto Duran and 15 with Hilmer Kenty and 10 with Alexis Arguello in their rematch plus beat Arguello in their first bout at Junior Lightweight.

    So, who, how and why?

I’ll go with Vilomar but without much confidence since I’ve seen much more of him than Montilla. Fernandez was just a tough out because he was so slick and cute and seemed to give everyone fits to some degree. Most of his losses were high-quality and I generally will take the skilled boxer over the more crude but hard type.
