The cloning chambers do tend to get in the way when I'm doing my bagwork. Perhaps my room layout is less than ideal....
I'd hate to be the 10th Hearns. ........ or the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th for that matter.
Tommy Hearns was the light heavyweight champion of the world. And a bonafide light heavyweight champion, even though he is a natural welterweight or possibly middleweight. He only ever fought as a cruiserweight when he was old and passed it, but his cruiserweight record included 8 KOs in 10 fights! 4 of these were in the first round, 2 in the 5th and 2 in the later rounds. Tommy did carry his power up in the weights and he had power at all times in the fight! His points wins appeared to be dominant on the cards. His heavyweight record is not as impressive, with a KO win of Nate Miller but a stoppage Loss to Uriah Grant. Strangely enough, these were fought at just over the Cruiserweight limit of the time (according to boxrec) which was 190 from my recollection, but they were both for the IBO Cruiserweight title. Nate Miller's best heavyweight win seems to be a win over Smoking Bert Cooper, who was a live heavyweight challenger in Tyson's era, even though he didnt actually face Tyson. (interestingly, this was a cruiserweight title match above 190 too. Did i dream the raise of limits form 190 to 200 recently?) Uriah Grant, whose biggest claim is going the distance with Chris Byrd and Tyson Victim Brian Neilson is a poor result for Tommy, but Tommy was also knocked out in 3 rounds by Marvin Hagler and Iran Barkley when closer to his prime. And i dont think that anyone uses this as evidence that Tommy cant take a middleweight punch, much less a heavyweight punch. He just seemed prone to getting caught from time to time and clearly he had a poor fight here. History has also shown us that most light heavy world champions who step in as heavyweight champions go pretty well against champions, often winning but usually making a fight of it. (there are of course some relevant exceptions). Tommy Hearns is a good fighter and no easybeat for anyone. If this was say David Haye, we can all agree that this would be a ridiculous question because Haye has zero chance against 10 Tommys? I will consider Tyson and this match up later when i get time.
I think someone was checking out http://howmanyfiveyearoldscanyoutakeinafight.com/ and decided to substitute Tommy Hearns for a five year old. If I recall the website predicts I can handle 31 five year olds.
by the way i have footage of foreman facing five opponents in one night. Cossell kept saying how much of a joke it was. And although it was somewhat of a circus act, those 5 guys were actually fighting, and foreman was actually knocking most of them out
This would be an ugly, horrible, disgusting event that I would never want to see. Hagler-Hearns is hard enough for me to watch. This I can't even imagine.
