Depends how you look it, I had Fenech winning 116/112 (115/113 second time round, with peer pressure); but if you watch the fight again, Nelson was cute on the ropes and with that in mind a draw does not seem out of the question IMO.
The only time when that was a tradition is when there is a huge public favorite, i.e. Ali getting the nod in every single close fight or when it's someone trying to justify his terrible scorecard. By the way, if you can provide me with a link to a poll here at ESB where 33% has Holmes winning Holmes-Spinks, then i will find an other board to post at. However, i suspect that you added a '0' behind the number of votes for your idol.
You don't seem very eager to give Mayweather rounds. I had Mayweather-Castillo I for Castillo but all the others were decisive wins for Floyd.
Mayweather stopped Chavez when Jesus' own corner retired the fighter, and they had no rematch. Although he did fight a different Jesus Chavez early in his career winning that one on a stoppage as well! :think
...but this one ended up in the sweet hereafter that is known as Thread Hell. :deal http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/archive/index.php/index.php?t-15108.html :good
Fenech-Nelson I, 10-2 or 9-3 on my card. Fenech was never the same after that. Foreman-Schulz, although close that was the fight that sent me away from boxing for nearly a decade, the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.
Terell vs Wepner - Wepner maybe won two rounds. Norton vs Ali III - Norton won this fight. The descion still stinks decades later. Lewis vs Holyfield I - A draw? Lewis won clean. Whitaker vs Ramierz - Terrible call. Whitaker won at least 8 rounds. Jack Johnson vs Jim Johnson - The champion does little, and so how escapes with a draw. Jim was robbed of a lineal title. Tiberi vs Toney- Toney was listless. Tiberi won the fight for sure.
I tried to google assorted Holmes and Spinks stuff with no luck, then I remembered that if I knew the exact thread title it would take me to the main archive and I could navigate from there. Then came the 'eureka' moment. The thread title? Educate me on Duilio Loi. :yep
Whitaker vs Chavez and Lewis vs Holy take some beating. Dreadful scoring by the judges concerned. :dead
