Ok, MMA is not killing boxing, but it is killing the white fan base in boxing. Had kelly Pavlik come 10 years ago, before MMA was brought into the mainstream, how big would he have been?

No. DLH looks like a movie star. Pavlik looks like my mechanic.

People who rates a boxer highly due to color should leave the sport. So MMA did a good thing seemingly.

I don't know if your claim is true, but if it is, the question in itself is irrelevant to real boxing fans.

To real boxing fans he would be rated the same as now.

    I doubt it.

De La Hoya's gold medal and Hollywood-type story on how he won the gold for his dying mother, as well as his looks to attract the female fan base, helped his popularity greatly. He also speaks both English and Spanish and can help promote the fights, and himself, to different audiences.

Pavlik has 0 charisma. He would never be half of what dlh was to boxing.

De La Hoya has had his share of mediocre or disappointing fights in big events.

Then the next fight sells really well.

He just has an amazing popularity with fans.

No Pavlik had a weak 160 divison back then aside from Hopkins.
