Yeah I’m sure he’s absolutely devastated that hordes of trashy caked up IG obsessed sluts with lay counts of 50+ are filling stadiums to watch Joshua bore people to death with basic 1-2 combos and WWE style ring entrances. He’s living like a king in Alabama as it is. I find it baffling that boxing fans on forums are so obsessed about numbers at a stadium. Are you interested in numbers or actual in ring boxing?
Stub Hub the happiest of all about 100,000. Hearn touts most of those tickets to touts and they triple the cost. All this '60,000 were snapped up in the first 15 minutes' BS is because Hearn just transfers them on bulk to SH. They even advertise this service on the ring apron. If people are mug enough to shell out, then I can't blame Matchoom for milking that cash cow.....
It's also the modern mentality of seeking 'entertainment'. Like that's the only purpose to anything of value. Forget skill, or a close sporting contest, or any other criteria you can think of which would, as a consequence, lead to being entertained as a byproduct. It's about being entertained by 'the experience' regardless of the sporting context. I call it 'Sweet Caroline Syndrome'...
Yep, people moan when you cant draw crowd (e.g. wilder) people moan when you can draw record crowds (e.g. joshua) explain how you all want it. in the middle somewhere? where no big fights are made? get over it
Joshua is a boxing phenomena. You don`t get 100,000 coming to watch you if you don`t have star quality. The bitterness from DW and his fans is palpable. It also show how ridiculous his claim for a 50/50 split with AJ is.
He's a phenomena in boxing, for sure. But what's actually phenomenal is the way he's been marketed by Matchroom and Sky. That's not a dig btw, just a nod to how they grew his star quality and used it to develop cross-over appeal, something Hearn aimed to do from the get-go. It's been a triumph of marketing, with AJ obviously adding decent sporting prowess to the masterplan, as well as a blank canvas for them to paint a persona upon...
