Yahoo Sports Kevin Iole writes: He said hes going to put a $100,000 winner-take-all bonus on the line for Donaires next bout as a way to encourage the fighters to compete. The money will be in addition to the fighters contracted purses. GooD! May be the ducking will stop at least for little while.
This is one thing I wish boxing could borrow from the UFC. Awards like Fight and Knockout of the night could motivate boxers to give their best effort.
I like the UFC's method of giving bonuses for KO of the night, Fight of the night, etc. If possible, they should give $1000 for each KD and twice their purse for KOs.
What is the bonus based on, clearly it can't just be for taking the fight? What's the incentive to get the money?
Can't totally agree with that when Valero was on his 1st round KO run Teiken offered 100k bonus for continuous 1st round KO's which he got and he broke the record but he fought like a animal with no defense and that's how most remember him if you saw him sparring he had some real skill...(Yeah I know he's a POS wifebeater and killer and so on but as a fighter he had talent).
