In 2003, the writers of Ring Magazine published a ranking of the 100 greatest punchers of all-time. Not unlike an all-time pound-for-pound ranking, this list compares fighters across different weight categories and different eras. As such, it's entirely open for debate ... 1. Joe Louis 2. Also do you think there has been any fighter who has fought from 2003-present who would get in that list? EDIT- Greatest punchers, not hardest, sorry for the confusion. :good
Julian Jackson should be ALOT higher. I find the list to be highly flawed. Too much credit is given to the "greater" fighters. For example... Chavez is ranked way too high. He's ranked way above Tszyu, even though Tszyu was definitely a better puncher. Rosario was a better puncher than Hagler, and deserves to be higher. Jones is ranked too low. At 160-168 Roy's power was DEVESTATING. Bob Foster should be in the top 10. And Tyson IMO was a better puncher than Liston, but I guess its debatable.
Well if its the BEST punchers, then its criminal that Ernie Shavers be ranked above Robinson, Foster, Tyson, Jackson, and Arguello.
This is p4p punchers, not hardest punchers, right? b/c Zarate would then not even make the top 500 of that list...
Double click some point beside your thread-title on the General Boxing Forum - it should give you the chance to edit it...
Thanks. :good Where would you guys rank Pacman in that list today? I would imagine he'd be pretty high.
Why would you say that. Trinidad's hooks were timed and powerful. Pac's hooks look more like I hope I catch him with this. Ala Hatton. Due to Pac's awkwardness, this is why I call it this way.
I don't understand the question now. Best punchers? Well, you don't have to be powerful to be a good or best puncher. You can throw guys like SRL and Camacho for that. They were very fast and accurated with their volume of punches.
