i recently inherited boxing gloves that my grandad sayed could be at most 100 years old they are made by a firm called St Peters and on the label it says as worn by champions how old do you think they realy are what happened to St Peters Were they the Grant boxing gloves of the day cheers
Interesting.. I happen to have a pair of Horse-hair filled leather gloves, draped oved a signed Dempsey photo. The gloves are dated to 1920.. they are 8oz.
I would believe they are close to a hundred years old but definetly not over. I have a pair of boxing gloves hangin in my rec room from the 1910's and they're basically leather gloves no more than half a inch thick.
rock my gloves are abit thicker than that i think they are for bag work as they came from a youth club with a punchbag but i have tried to work out the age and i put it closer to 80 years
I have an old pair made by the old firm Frager, they were commissioned to make large gloves for custom fit to Sonny Liston, they were hand cut in California, and ar very comfortable but very oversized.. he seam is also on the outside and would be deemed illegal now.. I use them for bagwork now... Ali and Sonny wore Frager for the rematch in Lewiston Maine i think... They were a class act for 1965
my gloves are thicker but i would never us ethem on the bag there in good nick but i wouldnt risk them getting bust up
