good move.no more slick&black bs,those guys are cowards and nobody want to see cowards runing and huging.
I'd rather se it for Fight of the Night to be honest. Let's say for example Barrera v Morales 1 had been on the same card as Jackson v Graham - I'd rather see the 2 Mexicans rewardrd for their efforts than Jackson (Not dissing Julian by the way).
Well, when a soldier goes to war, their objective is to kill the enemy, How would it sound if someone said "whoever kills the most enemies gets promoted!" Bit of an extreme example, but you get my point. Knockouts are fun to watch, no doubt, but promoting something like that - overtly encouraging it to happen doesn't seem right. To me.
Boxing is combat, not ballet. The goal in combat is to take out your opponent and failing that, THEN winning a decision. Sure we might see the artful dodger Pernell Whitaker every now and then but even he took out Hurtado in vicious fashion as a reminder of what kind of sport professional boxing is.
Nice way to tie it into a sponsor. "Vote through AT&T". So AT&T is likely shelling out the money, and Oscar gets to hype his card. Oscar is a marketing genius. Seriously. He maximizes revenue.
good idea......this ain't gonna entice the big money makers like Alvarez cause what's another 100K to him but the undercard guys who are barely making over that for the fight sure as **** will be thinking about what another 100K can do for them.
Good idea. Rewarding the best KO will sometimes cause SOME fighters to not fight their best fight, to deviate from their gameplan. How smart is that?
If you truly want to see boxing become more competitive simply give the winner of each fight 75-80% of the purse with the loser getting the rest. Then maybe guys like David Haye wouldn't worry about his sprained toe so much and would have actually fought Klitschko like the promises he made beforehand.
About what exactly? I suggested they give the winner the lion's share of the purse in one post. Responding to MrTony80 I said "then watch ballet" if he opposes the idea of a $100K kick for the guy that scores the best KO on the card. I'm all for exciting cards when I watch fights. I don't like hug fests or watching guys dance around the ring for 10-12 rounds and engaging for 5 or 6 of them. No flip-flopping here.
