Fair but false is what I've been calling Cortez for awhile now.

He's the American version of Dave Parris.

Definately bad at times....good at times. I think he is getting too much flack from both sides.

YES, he could have taken a point from Joe for the low blows or the rabbit punches....but he also could have done the same for Hopkins for using his head or holding and hitting. Instead he let the fight happen and the fighters make the outcome.

I didnt like how he tried to rush Hopkins on the lowblow. Going by the rules...he has 5 mins to recover from a lowblow...bad or not. He kept stepping in and seemingly trying to force him to start again (tho I KNOW Bernard used it as a "break"...but that is smart...not dirty, as it was a lowblow...).

    Like I said...bad and good.

I had it a draw, but can't argue with 114-113 for Cal.

    Booooring fight though.

Honestly, a lot of you Brits haven't seen Cortez from the mid to late 90's ref.

He used to be one of the best refs in the sport.

Nowadays he just seems senile in there. I felt sorry for both guys.

all I have to say is: Is this ***** ******ed? =)

Joe Cortez did a good job though, maybe a little to involved, it goy rough in there at times. and he is the right guy for that type of fight.

Do you have your "slightly tipsy" card handy? I'd like to compare notes with my "slightly choppy stream" card. 1, 8, 9, and 10 to me were the only "cast in stone" scoring rounds in this fight, until further, preferably muted review, of course.

Actually as you can see post I posted before I saw this thread I respect hopkins a lot but it was not a close fight after the 4th round, but i can understand you are a hokins fan. And I had Bernard 10-8 after one too!
