It's not always easy, but more often than not, it is. Refs need to be smart and quickly familiarize themselves with the styles of fighters throughout the fight. A ref makes $10,000+ in less than an hour for a fight of this magnitude and it is expected of them to distinguish a bad intention from a good intention. Otherwise anyone can do that job if it is all about breaking up fighters from a clinch or count to 10 over a knock down.
The round where Wlad lost a point was a 9-9 round Jennings won 2 rounds and one was even so it was 9-2-1 in rounds. 118-109 isn't too far off.
What??? Klitschko was grabbing & clutching like a limpet from the opening bell. The ref took his sweet time in warning him about it. I'm pleased to say he eventually docked Wlad a point for it, Other refs before totally ignored it. Jennings wasn't afraid of Wlad When Wlad clutched & held Jennings beat his body Two judges had it about right Deluca's card was bullfeces Wlad won but when asked about a rematch did you see his face? He wants easier meat than Bryant Jennings
I have mixed feelings about that ref. On the one, a ref finally admonished Wlad for the excessive holding. But on the other he's like, "Next time I'll take a point"... Next time I'll take a point"... "Next time , I'll take a point"... "Next time , I'll take a point"... I was like... "Take the damn point already!" Once the point was taken, Wlad actually had to use punching to keep his opponent off him. Made for the first fun Wlad fight in maybe ever.
Yes I will ellerbee IF the fight is level and above board, which I seriously doubt. Having Bayless in there & the two judges that scored Maidana-Floyd 1 117-111 &116-112 It looks like Manny has the deck stacked high against him A level honest fight with an honest decision I'll be the first to congratulate the winner. BUT Should Manny emerge victorious will you Floydaholics give him credit ??? I know you wont
He has Fury and Wilder lined up. Jennings can work his way back in like Tony Thompson did. We need to get this mess settled and have one champion first I don't think many people will complain about that
Nobody pays to see the ref. Jennings came in low with his head down a lot.. that forces tie ups.. Wlad was warned for times that Jennings did that... that's stupid. Clinches are part of boxing, you just break them up. Obvious holding is obvious.. that's not what took place last night.
2 of the refs say Jennings won 3 rounds, even then they don't agree on all rounds, overall there are 4 rounds in question that has been given to Jennings by a ref(rounds 3,6,7,9), but 1 ref says Jennings won only 1. I believe that's a big enough problem about scoring standards that needs to be addressed. If this was a closer fight where Jennings won 2 more rounds, that could be a big problem to decide the winner. There's no guarantee this won't happen again in the Fury fight which might be that close.
I can agree with point deducted, but i also think Jennings should be warn for his head lunging. In HW fights there always will be clinches and i dont think clinches was more then normal in this match. Wlad was warn for all, he jab and the idio*** referee say dont push .... People complaining how referee help Wlad but i could not disagree more. In his previous fight Pulev was rabbit punches him so much, that this should lead to DQ. Not to mention how many times Pulev hit after brake from referee. He did not get even 1 warn for that hitting after the brake. Nothing wrong with 118-109, some referee wont count much of this body shot, which most of them was in Wlad hands. I had it 117-110, for me thats the true score.
If nobody pays to see the ref, we can as well get rid of him? I don't see the point of your post. A good ref is vital for every fight, there is no discussion about this. Enforcing clinching rules is part of refs jobs and I'm saying they should enforce it better, that's all.
Is it true Jennings only started boxing in 2009? Imagine this fight if he had been boxing since he was a kid like Wlad.
Fury would have been savagely KOed by a few of those right hands the guy has a Glass Jaw. Compare last nights scorecards to the Mayweather-Canelo card that was 114-114 :rofl That is an awful scorecard the ones last night were not bad. I am fine with 'giving' Jennings 3 rounds. Makes no difference he wasn't active enough.
Which means, without the point deduction, you scored it 118-110, or 10 rounds to two. To go from ten rounds to two, to eleven rounds to one, or nine rounds to three, doesn't seem like huge swings in either direction.
Yeah, that is about right. Wlad won't push the issue too much. He fights very disciplined, and will take the decision if that is all that is available. Jennings fought out of a better Philly Shell than Chambers, and because of his greater size and strength, was more able to absorb those big shots. He gave a good account of himself, and tried in spots, but his performance stands out because he wasn't KO'd, not because he came close to winning.
I have mixed emotions on the ref, as well. K needed to be warned. Otherwise he would hold all the time but it got kind of ridiculous when the ref would warn him for everything. It was clear this ref knew the public's sentiments and he played to them completely. There were many times when Jennings wasn't doing anything and the ref still warned K of holding. That was a bit too much. I had K winning this fight comfortably but it was a snoozer, like so many of K's fights. Just not very exciting. Jennings acted like if I just survive I should be the new champion of the world. Yeah, right.
