Do we have any proof he actually put on this amount of weight over night? or is it just according to Hearn.....
To be honest, at 5'11 and 140+, he should be a lightweight. I am 5'6 and 148 lbs. I have a wide build and at best i am a LW. No way should he perform at below 126.
It's not good for his punch resistance on his already glassy chin. Inuoe punches like a mule with a lot of torque specially those beautiful body shots.Full turn from the hip and shoulder into the punch. Beautiful.
The Japanese papers were reporting an "at the venue" weight with Inoue putting 6kg on over night and McDonnell putting on 12kg
Thats great if you can bulk up so much over night. Not so great when you cant last a round. I have this weight thing thats the big thing in Boxing now.
Yes well I can well believe that cause whilst he looked like smack head yesterday he looked well hydrated today which is why I think what Inoue did was even more impressive. JM is basically a Welterweight so how impressive was that eh?
For sure and you know what really gets me?when they dare to bring up the weight cut after a defeat. Folk need to wake up to this as Paulie M been saying for a while that it’s only PEDs that has made this extreme weight cutting possible. Golovkin is a throwback to another time, always like how Froch fought at his walk around weight also,it’s gotta help you on the night not having to cut water weight.
Very clever by Team McDonnell, It was a tactical weight gain, the extra fat was put on to cushion the fall.
25lbs at 118lbs is well up there p4p, that's as extreme as they come, That's a lot of weight for cruiser weight. It comes at a cost though especially for a small guy like him.
Holy fu.ck!!! Scott Harrison used to go 126 into the 140’s, 144 v Brodie IIRC. But 25lbs is ridiculous, for a man as small as that to gain 25lbs overnight is fu.cking dangerous. That’s got to have come close to liver failure etc
His trainer said he weighed that amount too 'McDonnell's trainer Dave Coldwell, who also trains his twin Gavin, said: "As a champion he accepted the toughest challenge out there to try to claim the credit that’s been missing from his bantamweight reign. "Gave everything he had to give but was up against an exceptional P4P fighter in Inoue, a great talent who’s going to take some beating. "Entering the ring at 143lbs without even eating a great deal tells it’s own story so after a break we’ll look for him to become a two weight champion in the next chapter of his career. "Possibly a run at Featherweight is needed. "Thanks to everyone for all the supportive messages."
