I cannot beleive that the same man who refused to let Hatton get anywhere near Mayweather without hauling him away was the same man who let Hopkins hold, maul and headbutt his way through 12 rounds with nothing more than a passing word every now and again.

    Cortez's reputation is tainted

I didn't think he was that bad for once to be honest.

I dont mind if a referee is known as a guy who lets it go, and lets the boxers get on with it, or if a ref is a guy who doesnt allow much to happen on the inside, but he needs to be consistent.....Cortez allowed Hopkins to do for 12 rounds, what he refused to let Hatton do at all

Except that Cortez's threats were nothing but fluff. How many times did he warn both fighters that a point-deduction was imminent? Calzaghe and Hopkins listed to Cortez about as much as a whiney-ass kid listens to his desperate mother in the check-out line at the market.

Worst goddamn ref ever!, This guy is nothing but an attention ***** having to get in the middle of the action all the time. Get your bald ass out of the way and let the fighters sort it out you douche nozzle, I mean seriously this ******* just doesn't let the fighters fight, I had people over last night some of which have never seen a fight and even they noticed how awful he is as a ref, He should not be allowed to ref another big match EVER!

I thought he did fine. Maybe should have taken a point away at some point.

    He's a good ref.
