I certainly don't see any TKO. Hodkinson was a fine pressure fighter, and a good puncher. Nice, tidy, well educated little scrapper. I for one don't think he'd have too much success finding his range with Winstone's jab discouraging him at every turn, though. Winstone by comfy decision.
Yeah, Hodkinson was a good solid fighter, underrated probably. As a featherweight world champion he was vulnerable and not ahead of the pack( in similar vein to a lot of the '80s lightweight champs), but i'd say he was still roughly on par with the more celebrated McGuigan and similar in approach. Not quite as good technically, but a better puncher; his left hook was a great shot.Just didn't quite have the chin or Defence to take his pressure hooking style to the next level and become a very good champ, as was shown against Vargas.Great forgotten fight that one. I think Winstone would beat him widely, but his lack of power and tendency never to back away from mixing it up at ring centre would make for some entertaining early-mid rounds as Hodkinson relentlessly pressures him.
