For me it should have always stayed at 15, I believe it going to 12 is one of the many reasons why boxing has faded as a sport. 15 rounders means more stoppages.
I agree...15 rounds means more KOs...I love the championship rounds of old fights; cuz it seems anything can happen (see leonard-hearns 1)
15 rounds no question. Anyone remotely familiar with the long history of this sport knows that's how it should be.
15 means more kos yes but it means more long term injury to fighters so 12 is ok with me but draws suck ass
Dr. Margaret Goodman spelled out in very specific terms the facts, and the reality, that there is zero medical and scientific evidence to suggest that 12 rounds are in way safer than a 15 round duration. There is literally no factual basis behind this assertion.
Seriously how many top 10 Heavyweights right now could go 15 rounds? Maybe 2 or 3? It would almost be pointless in the Heavyweight Division because they would all gas before the 15th round.
15 rounds helps also because it forces more HWs to show up in shape. It should never of been changed, often times i'll see a 12 rounder and be like "thats it?" I wasn't even alive when 15 rounders were prevalent, but 12 rounds is too short.
