12 rounds or 15 rounds?

More would show up in shape though if they knew they had to go 15.

 

keep it at 12, the last thing the sport needs is an increase of serious injuries in the ring.

 

But what your ignore is that sometimes 12 rounds makes it more dangerous. Look at the Calzaghe vs Lacy fight, if at round 10 the ref thought Lacy was going to take another five rounds of beating he would have stopped it. Lacy took two more rounds for the sake of it. Thats also what I mean by more stoppages.

 

that fight has seemed to ruin Lacy. he has not been close to the fighter he was since.

And more deaths.12 rds is enough.Fighters themselves never complain about only going 12 rounds for obvious reasons.Boxing has faded because of all the silly titles that have come into the sport,not the reduced amount of rds.

 

15 -> 12 rounds is one of the few changes in the sport that i think has actually been very positive

first, some of the fights we get are frightening enough in their intensity... do u really want to see vasquez-marquez 3 go 3 more rounds? do you really want to see someone die?

second, if you watch some older fights, they are fought at a different pace because of the presumed length of the fight... shortening a fight to 12 rounds may have the effect of increasing the urgency of the fighter behind on pts... there are fewer "nothing" rounds (unless you're watching klitschko fight ibragimov)

third, having a fight be 12 rounds instead of 15 puts a premium on technical skill over stamina/endurance... i understand this is a matter of taste but i don't feel boxing is a stamina contest... i don't want to see at the end of 15 rounds ali and frazier so physically exhausted that they can barely function

 

I've seen both 12 and 15 . . . 15 rounds is much better . . . less controversial results.

 

That's the main reason I feel boxing matches should have an uneven number of rounds, They could at least do 13 rounders.

So what she is saying is that getting punched in the head for 12 rounds and getting punched in the head for 15 rounds is the same. Oh, and not counting vicious body shots. 12 is fine and safer. Wrong, 15 rounders was a different era. Money is what is making boxing bad. With the money being generated now and if 15 rounders was still around, what's the diference?
