So I was checking out the 122lb and 126lb divisions and noticed that there is a lot of competition down there.. Most of these fighters have yet to face each other and most of them are not young either.. As much talent as I see in these list of fighters, I would like to see a majority of them to square off.. Daniel Ponce De Leon (WBO Jr Featherweight Champ; Fights Juan Lopez in June; Holds wins against Bautista and Penalosa and a loss to Caballero) Rey Bautista (Who has a loss to Ponce De Leon) Gerry Penalosa (Who also has a loss to Ponce De Leon) Celestino Caballero (WBA Jr Featherweight Champ; Fights Parra in May and holds a win against De Leon) Steve Molitor (IBF Jr Featherweight Champ) Jorge Solis (Who has a loss to Pacquiao and a NC to Soto) Jorge Linares (WBC Featherweight Champ; According to boxrec, he has two fights in May against Feider Viloria and Billy Dib) Chris John (WBA Featherweight Champ; The undefeated cat with a win against Juan Marquez) Israel Vazquez (WBC Jr Featherweight Champ; won trilogy vs Rafael Marquez) Rafael Marquez Personally I would like to see Daniel Ponce De Leon and Celestino Caballero to square off in a rematch.. Both goth fights coming up and if they were both to win, then no doubt they should fight as they both do hold titles.. However, it would be great to see either one to fight Vazquez or even Marquez.. Their trilogy is over and now they need other fights.. To make it sound more simple, I think after their upcoming fights, De Leon and Caballero should fight in a rematch and then perhaps Rafael Marquez to step up and challenge the winner while Israel Vazquez could take on undefeated IBF title holder Steve Molitor while that leaves WBC champ Jorge Linares and WBA champ Chris John to fight each other to prove who is the best in the 126lb division.. I think Bautista and Penalosa are on the bottom of this list.. Both of them have lost to De Leon.. Funny how Bautista's first loss came by a 1st Rd TKO.. Anyways, these two pinoys should just fight each other.. But thats pretty much it.. I havent really read anything much about whats going on in the divisions and havent seen much people talking about it.. So what do you think? Who would ya'll want to see fight?
I like this subject. I don't know much about the guys at 126 so I will only comment on the guys at 122. Not too many people watch Steve Molitor, but I have seen quite a few fights and I'll tell you he is too green for Vasquez. Vasquez is just too much of a monster and would be in Molitor's kitchen all night. Molitor is, however, a very slick polished boxer. He would have a very interesting fight with Marquez. I think that guy in this division that is going to be left behind is Ponce De Leon, while a big puncher, he's very rough and would be exposed by any of the other champions.
i disagree...I think Ponce has grown enough to take out caballero in a rematch and go after steve molitor afterwards. Winner gets to fight Marquez
I haven't seen that much of Molitor so I was kinda' unsure of him.. A fight with Rafael would be neat to see if he could take on a contender and to prove himself.. I still think Ponce De Leon could still do well, but it would be nice to see him try to avenge his loss against Caballero.. So about a fight between Vazquez and Cabby or should he move up to fight the likes of Linares or John who has a win over JMM?
Vasquez is the cream of the crop at 122, he could move up and try his luck at 126. I really can't say how well he would do at 126 because I really know very little about Chris John. And I wasn't saying that Ponce De Leon would be a none factor, just that the other champions have tough style for him to beat.
Chris john just refuses to leave indonesia, which is frustrating for everyone. Eventually we will have to get him out of there before his career is over.
Iv seen his last 2 fights and he has an incredible stamina. Trains and lives at high altitude and hes a gym rat. Incredible physical abilites. His boxing is fairly defensive, but he dosent clinch(bhop). Hes very good at adaptating to the opponents style, the only weakness i see is a lack of aggresivity in the first 5 rounds, so one could seriously rack a lot of points in the first halfs of his fights. Sorry for double post.
I just seen on boxrec that Jesus Chavez and Michael Katsidi's is scheduled to fight in December? Doubt the fight is official yet tho..
I heard the about this Katsidis fight, Chavez has not been the same since the Lavendar Johnson fight, but he has a history of fighting up or down to the level of his opponents. Could be a destructive fight for either one of those fighters.
