Southpaws usually have trouble fighting other southpaws, and I suspect Rigondeaux with his breadth of experience will figure out Gary much faster than Gary will figure him out. To beat Rigondeaux, you have to be willing to take a shot to land a shot when the situation demands it and I don't see Gary doing that.
Russell still make too many mistakes. One of the few fights on his resume when he fought another southpaw, he took some nice shots. You can't make those mistakes versus Rigondeaux. And it may be a "boring" fight for the "casual boxing fan" becuase those fans don't appreciate technical fights. Rigo and Russell are counterpunchers (although Russell uses the jab more).
We all know that Gary Russell Jr. vs Rigondeaux @126 is a mismatch.. :deal The fight I want for Russell is against this guy http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=364679&cat=boxer :smoke
Rigo much more experienced, but he doesn't throw a lot of punches compared to Russell. Rigo has the edge in counterpunching and power while Russell has the speed and combinations. I think Russell can pull it off by outworking him. The only question is if he's able to take a good shot to the body.
