Dustin Nichols is without doubt the greatest HW champion that never was.

No one matches his hunger and appetite.

Dustin Nichols is also a ranked fighter..

Per BoxRec, he is currently ranked #1087
I feel like there's some politics at play here. Keeping the man down

he could become a boxing coach in the future, and teach how to throw check jabs

It's all in good fun. I'm a Wilder fan but I love this fight. The optics are insane. It also was 100% a KD, although obviously he wasn't hurt. Probably good for him to get embarrassed like that and stop clowning so much.

Crazy thing is Ward getting dropped and badly hurt by Boone in a 6-round fight. That and Kov 1 were the only two occasions he came close to losing.

Nichols' lingering fame reminds me of the Dave Chappelle joke about Monica Lewinsky.

Chappelle didn't realize how famous Bill Clinton was until Monica Lewinsky got famous for just blowing him.

Nichols and Harold Sconiers have been talked about for 13 years simply because they knocked down Deontay Wilder.

That's apparently HOW FAMOUS Deontay Wilder is.

Doesn't matter that Nichols couldn't answer the bell for round 2 and Sconiers was immediatly floored four times and wiped out. The end result means nothing. They knocked Wilder down so they've become famous.

Hell, Tyson Fury went from a guy who was famous for "punching himself in the face" to being listed as among the greatest heavyweights who ever lived, because he knocked Wilder down AND WON. It wasn't because of his boring decision over Wlad or his clownshows with Seferi and Chisora.

Score a knockdown over Wilder ... and your future is set. Beat Wilder. and you're an ALL-TIME GREAT.

Can't think of another heavyweight in the last 50 years - except maybe Wepner putting down Ali - who got famous simply for knocking down a famous fighter.

That Wilder guy must be pretty good.;)

I heard that Wilder set a weight limit and Nichols wasn't allowed to reach his optimum 400lb fighting weight. DN was weight drained.

Annnnd Ali had to cheat against Cooper after getting nearly knocked out of the ropes. It happens.

And Ward pretending it never happened. Televised, nationally by Showtime, mind you. :risas3:

Nichols came in a little too light for this one.

Nichols demanded a bigger ring, but Wilder's team refused. Dustin wanted to only occupy 40% of the ring, not 50%. It didn't allow him to use his legs to get away from Wilder's right hand.

Nichols wins the fight with a bigger ring and would have gone on to be undisputed champion for years to come.

Indeed he was spotted in the woods of Alabama trying to slim down to 300lbs. Hopefully he gets that Wilder rematch
