there was a thread a couple of months ago about child fighters in thailand. and now we have this and it was bound to happen. what the hell, thailand! https://www.rawstory.com/2018/11/thais-outraged-child-boxers-death-ring/ not for us to tell thailand what to do, but i hope this tragedy will make them rethink about child fighters!
i remember the thread. but hey, you cant criticize something because its a cultural thing, im sure his family is fine with it... chit happens.
i know it is a cultural thing. that is why i said that it is not for us to tell them what to do. i just hope that this will make them rethink this. and i would not be so sure that his family is okay with it now. no parent wants to bury their child, especially that young!
American teenagers die playing sports at high school (football usually). Others are paralysed. I don't buy the cultural argument. It's just a fact that contact sports have an element of risk. It seems odd that Thailand and their national combat sport are singled out.
good observation! i played football and never was injured. but you are correct. remember reading a few years ago about a little leaguer who was killed when a pitch him just right in the chest. but in boxing the point is to actually render your opponent unconscious. so, there is a small difference.
sorry, i should have worded my sarcasm a little more obvious. there is a difference between an unexpected accident in a combat simulation, and a man succeeding when hes trying to hurt you as much as possible. 2 completely different situations, one in which 13yo children do not belong.
A 14 year old kickboxer died in an amateur kickboxing bout in Leeds, England, last year, 2017. It's not just Thailand. Thailand seems to take a lot of flak globally when one of their kids gets hurt doing Thai boxing.
had not heard about that. poor kid. you are correct, the thais should not be singled out. just seems more prevalent in that country. i remember when i was there in january of 89 when i was in the navy. pattaya beach. saw some out door matches there. one fight was a couple of kids. didn't think it was right even back then.
WOW such a tragedy!!!!! This is disgusting, He was fighting & Beating Professional Boxers in their 20's!!!!!! Clearly the kid had Special boxing talent. I remember @CST80 & @IntentionalButt went HAM warning this should not be Sanctioned!!!!!. If only they were in the kids corner.
He could have been a phenomenal pro, they should have kept him AM. Sadly even AM boxers die too but at least they're in a FAIR fight! You can't compare a child's body to an Adults This was horrible
