You have an off definition of "poor fighters" He beat a string of world champions. He beat the best in the division. He lost to an ATG, which btw, wasnt some one sided beating revisionists like to make people believe. Barerra won comprehensively but it was nothing like s hut out. Also, frankly, I dont think we got to see teh best of Naz. He essentially retired having just turned 27,and according to his trainers hadnt been training hard for a couple of years prior to that.
I thought Graham was more technical. He was a very good fighter, giving a near-prime McCallum a very tough fight.
The fight was supposed to take place in 2000 when Naz was ready but barrera fought morales and lost.:good
:good:good:goodGood post. The best of Hamed was yet to come. I think God game him a gift in the ring, and Hamed felt like he needed to quit b/c he wasnt using it 100%. sad b/c he woulda been a legend.:-(
Here is the thing. When people mention Floyd,Pacquior,Barrera Morales and Marquez it won't be hard for a knowledgeable fan to name some of the great fighters they beat. With Hammed all we hear is how he was exciting and knocked out so and so number of fighters. who gives a a ****. Again who did this guys beat. Forget the fact that he lost to an all-time great, a loss does not mean the end of the world. Really, who did this man beat that was at least border line hall of fame. Not hating here please, just a fair assessment of the mans career. Beating other great fighters is how a great boxer distinguish themselves. Not kOing a bunch of scrubs at the domestic level.
Barrera had to stink the joint out to win fought like a ***** and came in 1 weight class heavier and bigger than Hamed. yet another reason why we need same day weigh ins this was a light welter vs lightweight.
Barrera looked at least two weights bigger than Hamed in there. Naz was landing blows that would've KO'd any featherweight in the world who's name wasn't Wayne McCullough.
Its been such a long time since I seen that. It seemed as though it was a rather hard fought competitive bout.
