Compare six month ago's crop of champs/contenders at jr. lightweight with today's. WBC/Ring = Pacquiao WBA = Valero IBF = Fana WBO = Guzman Contenders: Marquez, Barrera, Juarez, Barrios, Soto, Baloyi, Arthur ---------------- WBC = none WBA = none IBF = Baloyi WBO = Cook Contenders: Soto, Linares, Juarez, Antillon, Gamboa, Guerrero
Yeah it pretty much sucks, every big fighter moved up and then MAB and Morales retired, so its shite.
i think those 6 contenders you mentioned are really interesting linares and guerrero are 126 lb. champs moving up... guerrero is an exciting action fighter and linares well he's just awesome to behold antillon is tough as nails... gamboa is breathtaking athletically... and while we're not oohing and aahing over soto and juarez, they're both solid and will serve as good tests for all these other guys nicky cook is gonna lose the first time he gets in a ring with a real contender but no one tries harder than him and baloyi, i dont know who the **** that is
I would'nt call 130 a wasteland especially when Gamboa and Linares will be at 130 by next year and Humberto Soto is still a good fighter and exciting Puerto Rican prospect Roman Martinez might be making noise in the division by next year so 130 pound division should shape up well by June 2009 most likely.
my bad. did my homework it's marcos ramirez gamboa's facing. seen gamboa never heard of ramirez but paper says it should be a good scrap
I hoping that Gamboa will continue to develop and clean out the division. I'm also hoping that Linares starts fighting more often and becomes better recognized by casual fans to one day setup a clash with Gamboa. The rest of the division as it stands I can care less about.
