Mosley stops him. Lightweight brilliance vs Lightweight unfulfilled potential. Only verdict is a Mosley KO, the man is a Lightweight ATG H2H.
Did Guzman even fight at LW or did he eat himself out of that weight class before he could fight. I have to go with Mosley. Both fast, but Mosley would have brought pain with that fierce power he threw especially to the body. He was such a good body puncher. Whatever happened to that arsenal.
A legendary lightweight vs a guy who will be forgotten. Even in a fantasy match up Guzman doesn't deserve to be there.
Guzman couldn't separate himself from Ali Funeka at lightweight. No way he beats Mosley at this weight. Mosley's too strong, too fast, too powerful, and his body punching and right hand bombs would put Guzman in some troubling situations.
I do not think Mosley could reach far enough to Guzman to put KO. But I see it won by decision closed. Guzman at its best, was much faster legs and body that Mosley, and perhaps like this in hand speed. The only thing that makes me give the victory to Mosley is the physical advantage (2 inches in height and 3 inches in reach). This physical difference in a man with the skills that Mosley had, would have been very difficult to overcome for Guzman, despite the incredible skills that he possessed. However, I understand that at no stage this had been a fight on one side because the top speed on movement Guzman, what is sure to fail would have caused a lot of punches Mosley, Mosley too difficult to impose the most punch.
As much as I like and respect Joan Guzman, I am first and foremost an objective man, so I must definitely side by Mosley on this 'Fantasy' fight. Both in their prime, Speed-wise, were similar, but when it comes to power, Sugar's was a definitive advantage. Besides, as pointed out before, Mosley has height and reach advantages, which, for someone of his intelligence and skill-set, make him definitely superior. I can't back up Little Tyson on this one. This said, I know it would have been an interesting fight, though.
Good match up. We all know how Mosley always had problems with movers or boxers, but he was very nimble and very fast with his combination punching usually finishing most of his adversaries. Very strong, powerful at lightweight, but I do think he would struggle with a Guzman/Johnston/Mayweather type, but then really neither have faced great competition at 135 either. I think it would be a close fight, but Mosley would win by a SD or MD. Just bad style match up for Mosley despite all that firepower he had he always depended on it too much.
