    One observation here:

a faded Pernell Whitaker arguably did better against a young prime DLH than a prime Mayweather did against a past his best DLH. Recardless of the official outcomes of these fights.

That doesn't mean that Sweet Pea would beat lil Floyd, but I'm just sayin..

    Sanders, Corley, Judah......

All gave floyd trouble... none were even in the same playing field as Pernell.

Why do people say Floyd was best at 135? That's where Castillo gave him hell, and when you mention that fight, the same people say "He is much improved now, the Castillo loss is void"

Agreed....Pernell's defense was amazing... and his offence was very under rated....I think it would be close....but Pernell by UD...

would be a great fight, i favor pea (love that jab) but floyd actually packed more punch at the lower weights, so can't count him out

That wasn't Prime Floyd. He was fighting Oscar two weight classes above what his best ideal weight was at the time and under all the terms of the fight (gloves used, ring size) were to Oscar's benefit.

Yeah, I'm talking shite then. Floyd would actually do brilliantly against a southpaw who has one of the best jabs of all-time, great speed and outboxing ability, a superb defence and a high workrate.

You are correct. He sucked (compared to say his fights with Corales et al at 130) at 135 and looked amazing at 140 and 130. Its weird. Two fights with Castillo, that fight with Sosa, he looked very ordinary. The only good fight he had at 135 was against Ndou, but in my mind I could swear that was at 140. Well, in any case he really looked great after the Ndou fight and moving up to 140, until he jumped to 147 against Mitchell and looked a little bit less agile and quick. I'd say his best weights are 130 and 140, but his last few performances at 130 indicate to me he needed to move up, because both Chavez and Hernandez and then at 35 Castillo were physically in the fight in a way it is hard to imagine those guys being against a 140 lb Floyd.

I give the edge to Floyd Jr. At Lightweight his offesive skills were far better then Sweet Pea's, and Floyd's body work against southpaws would slow Pernell down signifigently. But this wouldve def. been the chess match of the century and Floyd was allso technically superior...Mayweather UD

Whitaker was the best lightweight of all time, IMO.

    He'd beat Floyd by a 8-4 margin.
