By tournament, I assume you're referring to a structure akin to the Super Six? (As oppose to the less appealing 4 man competition). This really would do wonders for the sport, with the winner of course hitting superstardom like he'd never have imagined! Whilst the risks associate with this type of event are very high for some of the contestants (Khan springs to mind), the rewards are more than worth it!
I kinda agree, but since it's SOOO loaded, there's bound to be some of the better fighters at 140 left out of the tournament.
How about an 8-man single elimination? Bradley-Kotelnik/Ortiz/Juan Diaz Alexander-Mabuza Hatton-Maidana/Cayo Malignaggi-Khan
^ Juan Diaz has looked terrible at Junior Welter, why could he be considered. is 140 really as loaded as everyone says though? Alexander, Bradley & Khan are the ones holding the belts at the moment .. but after that I don't see all that great depth in the division. especially considering Hatton looks to be on his last legs and might not even come back to 140 and Ortiz got badly wrecked by Maidana.
With how loaded 140 is, you could probably get away with doing a 12-man tournament. Obviously this would have to be an elimination-style set-up too.
Man the matchmakers are handling their business at 140. The fights that need to be made are getting made. Sad Bradley vacated, but other than that? No complaints.
