nah welterweight is full of talent but since all the top guys are starting to fight each other were able to develop some sort of order like we know zab quintana cintron are 3rd tier guys clottey & berto are 2nd tier guys shane cotto marg are 1st tier guys... the confusion @ 140 is what makes it good smw is ass... what are you talking about? and welterweight is still cool... we just know what each guy is capable of
Berto isn't at the same level as Clottey. Berto wouldn't be able to hang with the likes of Cotto and Mosley, I think Clottey would.
there good but for 1 there isnt more skilled fighters in smw then 140 for 2 nobody is trying to see these guys fight one another like that... for 3 there isnt anything @ the end of the road.... like @ the end of the road of 140 is pacman hatton or even campbell... smw is still a big random batch of fighters nobody really gives a **** about..... bika? kessler? bute? andrade? nobody really cares about these dudes like that i hate to take it here but... smw is just a bunch of random euro guys.... you know the kind of treatment these guys get
In terms of what? Natural skills? The winner of Froch/Taylor is expected to face Kessler in a year (god willing). Bute/Andrade 2 is around the corner. All of the younger fighters are slowly taking steps up. Ah so now I see what it is.
FTR, Walkwithme, passport doesn't determine skill level.... Just because they're from Europe doesn't affect the fact they're the best in the world.... SMW has the potential - especially with a "catchweight" fight with 160/175 to be by far the best division...
man people been talking about smw for YEAAAAARS now... about how this guy is going to fight that guy... NONE OF THESE DUDES ARE GOING TO FIGHT EACH OTHER!.... smw is just a bunch of speculation you know it and i know it.... people have been talking about these potential super matchups @ smw forever but they have yet to happen.... what makes you believe there going to happen now? yo but come on now.. dont be blind to the situation.. be realistic to the situation... how come you think euro fighters get NO respect at all? the only ones that get any serious credit are hatton & calzaghe and thats because hatton has a billion people come to his fights and brings a big check to the table & calzaghe finally came to our turf and beat soem of our guys and brings a big check to the table.... the euro guys stay in europe for ever and fight euro competition who are viewed as club fighters and they dont get any momentum to get the big fights in america because america IS THE HEAD QUARTERS for boxing... the latin come to america to fight the africans come to america to fight the asians come to america to fight... the euro guys are the only guys who havent got the point that if you dont come to america to fight nobody gives a **** about you... sergiy dzdurik is a perfect example.... he has quality wins on his record & is undefeated but nobody really started talkinga bout him until they needed to find someone to possibly dethrone paul williams @ 145....
I didn't think Pavlik's career path was particularly protected when he was young. He was brought along at a careful pace and ended up facing and winning the toughest perceived / available matches at the time they were made. He was 23 when he fought Zuniga, 22 when he fought Beaupierre, 19 when he fought Grady Brewer....the difference is, is that Pavlik didn't have a lot of press behind him and fighting for titles and so forth. And he didn't have anything like the Montano draw looming over him.
that whole list better be ready for Victor Ortiz...he stopped Arnaoutis in 2 rds...thats ****in impressive for a young up-and-comer
140, 147, and 154 are all good divisions. There has been a vast improvement in the 154 lb. division as of lately. 140 has really stepped it up as well. 147 is strong but is on the decline due to Margo being suspended, Mayweather retiring, Cintron being exposed as a fraud, and Williams moving up as well. Let's also not forget that Mosley is up there in age as well.
