    He showed great footwork, handspeed, mobility, etc.. He hadn't boxed anybody so masterfully since the 60s. He did a masterful job of jabbing, moving, and tying up Frazier when a landed a good hook. I concur, it was a simple game plan, but it was executed beautifully.

    Pernell “Sweat Pea” Whitaker.

    I’ll take his second fight over Luis Ramirez. The jab, pivot, counter left hands over the jab, body combinations, ducking, slipping, dipping.

    It was a beautiful thing to watch. It was like playtime boxing celebration by the last round with Pernell laughing and playing and still landing punches.

    thnx, I know any Joe Louis, Armstrong, Jose Napoles, Roberto Duran, etc. could go on, these were just ones that really stood out to me

    Olivares-Hafey II, Griffith-Ortega I, Moore-Johnson V. I didn't mean that your list had a bunch of street fights without strategy, I just meant that some of them conotated action more than strategy in my mind.

    In the case of Olivares v Hafey, this was a rematch of a bout that Olivares took for granted and paid for it. In the rematch, although Olivares is known as a slugger, he turned matador and I thought he boxed brilliantly for the win.

    Olivares really showed his dimensions in this one. A very underrated win for him.

    He'd actually shown his skills anyway though, Argüello, Chacón and the Castillo fights from what I've seen. I don't get calling Olivares a slugger, he was a boxer-puncher even when on offence.

    Awesome fighter though, one of my ATF BWs. With Sahaprom and Burnett.

    I know that, but he was almost strictly the matador here, unlike the others, against a pure and very effective pressure fighter.

    And yeah, Olivares was the highest standard of the Cuyo Hernandez fighters, which is really saying something.

    I seem to remember it being a decent fight though, Olivares fought back after he'd been dropped.

    Anyway, i think Olivares' boxing is worthy of study. I definitely wouldn't call it a 'punch-em-up' though.
