Here are my top 15 punchers all time hardest punchers. What’s an all time puncher? It could mean many things depending on how you define it. All of the fighters on this list qualify under the following definitions of what an all time hardest puncher is in at least two of the below categories.

    A one punch Ko.

A very high knock out percentage in wins, and KO’s over highly ranked opponents.

1st or 2nd round KO’s in title matches.

Knocked some out cold, broken someone else’s bones, sent his opponent to the hospital, or produced a tragic fatality.

In no particular order, the fighters are:

    Shavers
    Tyson
    Dempsey
    W. Klitschko
    Liston
    Lewis
    Morrison
    Tua
    Foreman
    Louis
    Fitzsimmons
    Marciano
    Jeffries
    M. Baer

I need a little help on the 15th person, and will also listen to cases made for anyone who did not make the cut.

I though about Ruddock, Ingo, Bowe, Bruno, Vitali Klitschko, Frazier, and a few others. Not sure who belongs.

I reckon Razor has the one punch power out of that lot. Certainly more dynamic IMO. That smash was frightening.

    Excellent all-round list.

About the 15th... you can argu for either of those above. JohnThomas has a good argument for Ruddock. You could say Frazier should be in there because he stopped quite some ranked fighters, Ingo because he iced Machen in 1 (which the other top15 puncher Liston couldn't do in 12 rounds) and Patterson, Bruno and Klitschko because both have sick KO percentages.

    Shavers
    Tyson
    Foreman
    Dempsey
    Marciano
    Tua
    Louis

Last but not least, can't talk KO's with mentioning

    Archie "The Old Mongoose" Moore.

Actually, I'm not 100% sure if he meets your criteria.

Moore did not knock out any top heavies, but he did score the most amount of knockouts recorded.

Perhaps Sullivan, Cooney, and Wills deserve real looks too.

Did Jerry Quarry KO enough top heavies?

He scored a one-punch KO over Lorenzo Zanon after losing every round.

That left hook was a real wild card punch, wasn't it?

How was Marciano a better puncher than Jack Dempsey?

Marciano knocked out every single ranked opponent he ever fought.
Dempsey didn't knock out every top opponent he faced. Marciano fought better opposition. The only conclusion is that Marciano should rate ahead of Dempsey based on this comparison.

Dempsey had faster hands, and was a better combination puncher. He was also the only person to knock Billy Miske out in 103 fights, and he put Tunney down for the ten count. I belive he also holds the record for most first round knockouts. If you want to say Marciano had more one punch power, that's fine, but to have Dempsey down in the honorable mentions with guys like Ron Lyle and Shannon Briggs is just wrong.
